Report: Bo Pelini a ‘strong candidate’ for LSU defensive coordinator job

Former Nebraska head coach and current Youngstown State coach Bo Pelini is reportedly considering a return to Baton Rouge as the defensive coordinator for the LSU Tigers.

According to Scott Roussel of Football Scoop, “Bo Pelini is a strong candidate for the LSU defensive coordinator position.”

The Tigers are looking to replace Dave Aranda, who left to become the head coach at Baylor after Matt Rhule became the head coach of the Carolina Panthers.

Pelini has been a head coach since the 2008 season when he left LSU to become the head of Nebraska’s football program. He was at Nebraska for seven seasons, earning a 66-27 record. The past five seasons, Pelini has coached Youngstown State, going 33-28.

Prior to his Nebraska gig, Pelini was the defensive coordinator for Les Miles at LSU from 2005-2007, winning the national title in 2007.
