Report: Blake Griffin suffers sprained MCL

When Los Angeles Clippers All-Star big man Blake Griffin went down with what looked to be a serious knee injury Monday night, you could hear a pin drop at the Staples Center.

Griffin immediately grabbed the same left knee that he’s had multiple surgeries on in the past. After playing through a noticeable limp for a short while, Griffin exited the court with a trainer and did not return to the game.

Now, this one report suggests that Griffin suffered a sprained MCL and will be out for a while.

At the very least, he didn’t suffer any ligament damage and will be able to return to action at some point this season.

Though, it’s the latest in a long line of injuries that has cost the recently-extended franchise player 83 games over the past three-plus seasons.

With the Clippers at 8-11 on the season, this is most definitely not good news. In one short calendar year, this team has gone from conference title contender to potentially missing out on the playoffs altogether.

Griffin’s injury won’t help matters here.
