Report: Baylor’s Matt Rhule interviewed for Colts’ head coaching job

Baylor head coach Matt Rhule

The Indianapolis Colts aren’t leaving any stone unturned in an attempt to replace the recently fired Chuck Pagano at head coach.

According to this report from ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, the Colts apparently interviewed Baylor head coach Matt Rhule for the same position earlier in the week.

Rhule, 42, just finished up his first season as head coach for the scandal-filled Bears football program — tallying a 1-11 overall record. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Temple for four seasons.

Rhule has previous coaching experience in the NFL as the New York Giants’ offensive line coach back in 2012. Despite seeing Baylor put up a disastrous 2017 campaign, Rhule is widely respected within the coaching community. He took over a complete dumpster fire in Waco, and couldn’t have been asked to put it out in Year 1.

Even then, this is a rather interesting development in the Colts’ coaching search.
