Less than a week after being designated for assignment by the Houston Astros, first baseman Tyler White will now be getting an opportunity with another top organization.
According to MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand, the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired White for right-handed pitching prospect Andre Scrubb.
White’s 2019 season has been nothing short of a disaster for the 28-year-old. He posted a .225/.320/.330 slash line with three home runs and 74 strikeouts across 218 at-bats in Houston.
Los Angeles will be hoping a second chance and a change of scenery can help White return to his form from last season. White performed much better in 2018 with a .276/.354/.533 slash line and hit 12 home runs in 237 at-bats.
Scrubb has pitched very well at the Double-A level this season. The 24-year-old reliever holds a 2.45 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 47.2 innings. He did not rank among the Dodgers’ top-30 prospects by MLB Pipeline in the mid-season update.
