Report: Arizona State fires head coach Todd Graham

Arizona State just wrapped up its regular season with a 42-30 win over in-state rival Arizona on Saturday. It represented the program’s second consecutive win, which enabled the Sun Devils to become bowl eligible for the sixth time in seven seasons.

Apparently, this isn’t enough for head coach Todd Graham to keep his job. According to multiple media reports, Arizona State fired Graham Sunday morning.

Graham has coached the Sun Devils in each of the past six seasons. But the program failed to take that next step towards national prominence and conference title contention under his watch.

Arizona State finished last season with a 5-7 record, missing out on a bowl appearance for the first time since 2010. It also finished the 2015 campaign with a losing record after falling to West Virginia in the Cactus Bowl.

The Sun Devils currently sit at 7-5 on the season and are likely headed to a bottom-rung bowl game.

Graham had tremendous success early in his career in Tempe after replacing Dennis Erickson. The program earned a combined 28 wins in his first three seasons. But regression over the past three years has cost him his job.
