Report: Arizona Diamondbacks Trade Mark Trumbo to Seattle Mariners

Mark Trumbo - Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks have sent outfielder Mark Trumbo to the Seattle Mariners, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The Diamondbacks later offered full details of the trade:

Trumbo, who Arizona acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels following the 2013 season, was batting .259, sporting totals of nine homers, 23 RBI, 39 strikeouts and 10 walks.

Last year, Trumbo hit .235 with 14 home runs and 61 RBI, striking out 89 times and walking 28, though a foot injury shortened his season to just 88 games.

Nuno allowed three earned runs throughout 14.1 innings pitched. He ends his Arizona career 0-8 with a 3.49 ERA.

As for who the Diamondbacks acquired, well, the numbers don’t get any more impressive.

Though they did snatch Gabby Guerrero, the Mariners’ No. 3 prospect, per MLB.com, the outfielder struggled to adapt to the Double-A level with the Jackson Generals. Guerrero hit a meager .215 in 177 at-bats, tallying 10 doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI.

Shortstop Jack Reinheimer posted a .277 batting average with 16 RBI and 10 stolen bases for AA Jackson. MLB.com considered Reinheimer the team’s 14th-best prospect.

Wellington Castillo joined Seattle in mid-May after being the Chicago Cubs shipped him out, and the catcher then served as Mike Zunino’s backup with the Mariners. Castillo managed 11 hits in 68 plate appearances this season.

Dominic Leone, a 23-year-old right-handed relief pitcher, surrendered eight earned runs in 11.1 innings this year.
