Report: Anthony Davis trade to Celtics would require ‘greatest package’ in NBA history

Anthony Davis trade

We recently covered a report that indicated the Boston Celtics would love to make a move for New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis.

But according to Chris Mannix of The Vertical, it wouldn’t be a cheap deal.

Duh.

Appearing on CSNNE’s “Arabella Early Edition,” Mannix said it might take “the greatest package of players in NBA history — and that’s not hyperbole.”

Mannix also made it clear the Pelicans aren’t looking to deal Davis. And that’s hardly surprising. After all, they’re gearing up to make a run at the playoffs after acquiring DeMarcus Cousins to team up with Davis, as well as signing Rajon Rondo to help the team achieve its goal in 2017-18.

That said, Mannix said that if the Pelicans did change their mind about Davis, the Celtics would be “in the best position” to make a move for the dynamic big man.

Since entering the NBA as a No. 1 overall pick out of Kentucky, Davis has averaged 22.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
