Report: Angels pushing hard to sign Anthony Rendon

Angels rumors Anthony Rendon

The Los Angeles Angels might have lost out on Gerrit Cole, but the team is not stopping with going after that one major star.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Los Angeles is in active talks with star third baseman Anthony Rendon.

This situation could very well be coming to a head soon. Remember, Los Angeles traded away high-priced bust Zack Cozart in a cost-cutting move Tuesday that also included them dealing their 2019 first-round pick to the Giants.

There’s a reason general manager Billy Eppler and Co. did this. They believe a big fish is heading to Anaheim.

Rendon would represent a dramatic upgrade at third base and help provide Mike Trout with the protection he needs in the lineup.

The 29-year-old Rendon hit .319 with 34 homers, 126 RBI and a 1.010 OPS for the champion Washington Nationals last season. He ultimately finished third in the NL MVP voting.
