Report: Angels expected to name Joe Maddon manager soon

Joe Maddon

The inevitable appears to be nearing reality. Ever since the team fired manager Brad Ausmus, the Los Angeles Angels have been linked to Joe Maddon.

With the two meeting this week, a report from Scott Miller of Turner Sports notes that Maddon is expected to be named the Angels’ new manager at some point this week.

Maddon spent more than three decades in the Angels’ organization before taking the Tampa Bay Rays managerial job back in 2006.

After nine seasons with Tampa, Maddon spent the past five years with the Chicago Cubs. That included him bringing the organization an elusive World Series title back in 2016.

If this were to come to fruition, it would be a huge deal for an Angels team that has not earned a playoff appearance since all the way back in 2014.
