Report: 49ers meeting with Reuben Foster, no quick resolution expected

Reuben Foster

The San Francisco 49ers reportedly won’t be making any decision about troubled linebacker Reuben Foster any time soon.

Following his Sunday arrest for domestic violence, threats and possessing an assault rifle, Foster was released from Santa Clara County Jail on $75,000 bond Sunday night. The NFL and the 49ers are looking into the incident, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Foster is visiting with team brass Monday. He also reports that no decisions is will be made quickly.

The arrest Sunday marked Foster’s second in one month. He was previously arrested in Alabama for marijuana possession. Afterward, general manager John Lynch said that Foster knew he needed to stay clean, and that the franchise expected him to stay out of trouble.

Now that’s clearly not the case. And San Francisco has to really take a long, hard look at this young player, who has a history of off-field behavior that caused him to slip in the draft and be taken off some teams’ draft boards completely.
