How much will LSU’s offense miss not having Jayden Daniels at the helm for this game? Daniels passed for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns. Only four QBs had more yards. But, that’s not all. Daniels rushed for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns. That ranked 28th in rushing yards.
This seems devastating. But LSU led the country in several categories — points scored with 46.4 yards per play and yards per game. — and they led the SEC in passing and rushing yards.
Another blow is the loss of offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, who will be going to Notre Dame. That leaves quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan and receivers coach Cortez Hankton to call the offense against Wisconsin.
Wisconsin has given up 18.9 points per game and ranks in the Top 10 for the fewest yards allowed per play. But the Badgers lost a few defensive players to opt-outs and transfers.
While most of what the Tigers accomplished on offense was mostly because of Daniels, don’t sleep on the surrounding talent on the Tigers’ roster. Highly-recruited quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will replace Daniels and LSU is eager to see what he can do.
