Washington Redskins rookie Josh Doctson injures foot

Washington Redskins wide receiver Josh Doctson, a first-round pick from Texas Christian in the 2016 NFL Draft, injured his foot during organized team activities this week.

A scary situation has somewhat of a happy ending, as Redskins head coach Jay Gruden indicated on Wednesday that X-rays on Doctson’s foot came back negative. He’s expected to sit for at least the next week.

We have seen top picks injured during their first summer of practice around the NFL recently, most notably Jacksonville Jaguars first rounder Dante Fowler Jr. in his first practice with the team last summer.

The good news here is that Doctson is expected to be fine.

With DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder already on the roster, Washington surprised a ton of people when it picked up the former Texas Christian pass catcher in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Coming off a 2015 campaign that saw him record 78 receptions for 1,326 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Horned Frogs, the 6-foot-3 Doctson is expected to be an immediate impact player for Washington.

Any hindrance in regards to his off-season program could impact this a great deal. Let’s just hope he’s ready to perform when training camp gets going later this summer.
