The Washington Redskins remain without franchise left tackle and future Hall of Famer Trent Williams with the regular season nearing.
Williams has remained a hold out since the start of training camp. He does not want to continue his career in the nation’s capital, primarily because of an issue Williams has with the way Washington handled a recent health scare.
Despite this, the Redskins have remained steadfast in their belief that Williams will eventually report.
Embattled president Bruce Allen continued with that narrative on Wednesday, saying that they have not talked to other teams about trading Williams. Allen also fully believes that the former first-round pick will eventually report.
We’re really not sure where to go with this. Allen seems to be in denial. There’s been no indications from Williams’ camp, agent Tom Condon included, that he’s prepared to rejoin his team.
Outside of issues with the organization, Williams also wants an extension. The seven-time Pro Bowler is set to earn a base salary of $10.85 million this season. That’s well below his market value.
