The Washington Redskins appear to be a complete and utter mess right now. If the entire Kirk Cousins situation wasn’t enough, the team’s general manager Scot McCloughan hasn’t been at the facility preparing for free agency.
It’s apparently left a pretty big gap in the team’s front office, creating some rather interesting confusion in the process.
Just ask restricted free agent running back Chris Thompson, who apparently found out via social media on Wednesday that he was tendered a contract by the team.

That’s a pretty big whoops right there.
Thompson isn’t your run-of-the-mill restricted free agent. Here’s a guy that put up 49 receptions to go with over 700 total yards for the Redskins last season. He figures to play a huge role in the team’s offense moving forward.
It’s the lack of communication that boggles the mind here. How in the world did a valuable member of the Redskins’ offense not know beforehand that his team has actually offered him a contract?
One really has to wonder what is going on in D.C. these days.
