The Washington Redskins officially placed left tackle Trent Williams on the reserve/non-football injury list, ending his 2019 season and continuing the ongoing drama between the team and Williams.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the move saves Washington from having to pay Williams the $6 million he is owed over the remainder of the season.

It’s the latest move and comes just days after the NFL Players Association blasted the team and the NFL Network for its treatment of Williams and slandering his name publicly.

Williams, who didn’t report to training camp with the team and held out for the first half of the season, reported to the team after the NFL’s trade deadline passed. Shortly after, he revealed Washington mishandled his cancer diagnosis.

This is a story that is likely far from over, though, it’s clear Williams has played his last down for Washington.
