The Boston Red Sox made some news during the latter parts of the 2019 MLB Draft on Wednesday by selecting Florida Gators starting quarterback Feleipe Franks in the 31st round.
This is not a typo. Franks, who has not played baseball since high school, will be the Gators’ starting quarterback next season. What happens after that is anyone’s guess.
Franks threw for 2,457 yards with 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions for Florida last season. He’s highly unlikely to ever play for the Red Sox’ organization.
