Red Sox 3B Rafael Devers placed on disabled list

As the Boston Red Sox enter the final stretch before the All-Star Break, the team has opted to use the upcoming days off to let a key player rest on the disabled list.

On Thursday, Boston placed third baseman Rafael Devers on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation.

As of now, the inflammation isn’t expected to keep him out for an extended period of time. The upcoming break thanks to All-Star week would allow Devers to only miss five games if he is out for the minimum of 10 days.

The 21-year-old slashed .241/.292/.424 with a .717 OPS, 14 home runs and 48 RBI in 340 at-bats.
