Rays outfielder spent days as Uber driver in the offseason

The trend of baseball players getting jobs during the offseason continues to increase.

Michael Fulmer recently said he was a plumber during the winter months, where he was digging six-foot ditches, shoveling and changing sewer lines.

The most recent ball player to embrace the offseason career is Tampa Rays utility player Nick Franklin who says he spent a couple days as an Uber driver.

“He made about 9-10 trips,” said Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

This isn’t exactly shocking news with everyone trying to earn a quick buck, but a bit different to think about a big leaguer needing a second form of income.

I suppose if you have free time, why not make use of it.

The 25-year-old is heading into the 2017 season with a career .219/.228/.371 slash line.
