Ravens TE Mark Andrews not expected to play Saturday

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews needs another week to recover from an ankle injury he suffered in Week 11.

Multiple reports Friday indicated Andrews is targeting a return for the AFC Championship game next week should Baltimore take care of the Houston Texans in the divisional playoffs Saturday afternoon.

Optimism peaked when Andrews practiced Wednesday for the first time since Nov. 14.

But a day later, head coach John Harbaugh said the availability of the three-time Pro Bowl tight end was “up in the air.”

Isaiah Likely has 30 catches for 411 yards and five touchdowns in eight starts filling Andrews’ role.

Andrews missed the final six games of the regular season after suffering an ankle injury Nov. 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals but still led Baltimore in touchdown receptions with six. He caught 45 passes for 544 yards in 10 games.

“If I feel like I’m gonna be helpful to the team, I’m gonna go. If I feel like I’m close but not there, I’m gonna let these guys go and, hopefully, get there next weekend,” Andrews said when asked Wednesday what it might take for him to play.
