Baltimore Ravens future Hall of Fame safety Earl Thomas released a statement via Instagram Wednesday night announcing that an incident occurred between his wife, Nina, and himself.

At that point, we had no idea what happened. As reports came trickling in, the situation itself was about as scary as it gets.

Thomas’ wife allegedly pulled a gun on a All-Pro safety after catching him in bed with another woman. She allegedly held the gun near Thomas’ head. Nina was ultimately charged with burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and released on $25,000 bond.

According to this report from The Baltimore Sun, the Ravens are now looking into whether Thomas violated the terms of his contract, voiding the veteran’s $10 million in guaranteed cash for next season.

As of right now, releasing Thomas outright would result in a $15 million dead cap hit spread out over the next two seasons. If the Ravens deem that he broke the terms of said contract, they could get out from under the deal without a dead cap hit.

Thomas, 31, recorded 49 tackles, four passes defended and two interceptions in his first season with the Ravens. It was a career-worst performance from the seven-time Pro Bowl performer.
