While it has been a season to forget for the Texas Rangers, 2018 has provided Shin-Soo Choo with a performance he won’t ever want to forget.
In his first at-bat of Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, Choo drew a walk. It wasn’t an ordinary walk. The free bases extended his on-base streak to a whopping 50 consecutive games.

It’s quite the accomplishment for the 36-year-old outfielder. The streak started on May 13 and is responsible for much of Choo’s great statistics this season. During the 50-game stretch, Choo has posted an OPS over 1.000 with a .330 batting average and 12 home runs.
His performance at the plate this season has helped turn him into an All-Star at an age when careers typically end.
While Choo is still 34 games away from matching Ted Williams on-base streak, even reaching 50 consecutive games is a massive achievement.
