Texas Rangers put pitcher Jon Gray (oblique) on IL

The Texas Rangers put right-hander Jon Gray on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left oblique strain.

Gray was forced to leave Monday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles in the second inning with the injury. He gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk on 45 pitches.

In corresponding moves, the Rangers recalled left-hander Taylor Hearn and right-hander Josh Sborz from Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers had an open roster spot after trading away Matt Bush on Monday.

Gray, 30, is 7-6 with a 3.83 ERA in 19 starts this season, his first in Texas.

Hearn has gone 4-6 with a 5.50 ERA over 16 games (13 starts) spanning two stints with the Rangers this season.

Sborz has no record with a 7.94 ERA over 11 relief appearances spanning six stints with Texas this season.
