Report: Rajon Rondo ruled out for Game 5

The Chicago Bulls will be without Rajon Rondo for at least one more game. According to a report from Sean Highkin of The Athletic, coach Fred Hoiberg has ruled Rondo out for Wednesday’s Game 5 against the Boston Celtics.

The Bulls can certainly use Rondo back.

Rondo was a catalyst during each of the first two games of the series, which were both Chicago wins. He averaged 11.5 points, 10 assists, 8.5 rebounds and three steals over those two games.

With Rondo sidelined due to his wrist injury in the next two games, the team suffered. The Celtics won those two games by 17 and nine points, respectively, to even the series.

The fact that Rondo is out of his cast is certainly promising for the Bulls. Additionally, while he will not play in Game 5, an extra day off between Games 4 and 5 could also help Rondo return to the floor in Friday’s Game 6 and, if necessary, Sunday’s Game 7.
