Raiders sign head coach Jack Del Rio to new four-year contract

Prior to his arrival in Oakland, the Raiders were accustomed to giving coaches new contracts on a consistent basis. Unfortunately for the team, it just so happens that they were handing new coaches these deals on a near annual basis.

But since Jack Del Rio joined on with the Raiders back in 2015, the head coach has brought success back to the silver and black.

Now, just over a month removed form a successful 12-4 season, the Raiders have torn up Del Rio’s original contract, signing him to a new four-year deal in the process.

“The Raiders have torn up Jack Del Rio’s original contract and rewarded him with a new four-year deal,” Raiders owner Mark Davis announced on Friday, via the team’s official website. “We are excited to continue building on the strong foundation that has been established and this is a significant step in achieving that goal.”

Del Rio, who is coming off his second season as the Raiders’ head coach, had success in his previous stop. As the head man of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003-11, he led the team to two playoff appearances.

He’s now been rewarded with more security in Northern California, having seen two more years added to his original contract with what promises to be a solid pay raise in the process.
