Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Quentin Poling announced on Twitter Tuesday that his doctor is “sure” he, his wife and two-year-old child, have coronavirus.
Poling shared that he and his family have been tested.
Poling sent a few tweets out to his followers on the subject Tuesday, noting the family went to Spain and now have “fluid in lungs, SOB, sore throat, and dry cough.” He initially wrote that they are being denied tests because their symptoms were not severe enough.
There are seven confirmed coronavirus cases in the NBA so far, with the Brooklyn Nets having announced Tuesday four of their players — including Kevin Durant — have tested positive for COVID-19. Also on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers were put into a 14-day self-quarantine, with all of their players set to be tested for the coronavirus.
Poling would represent the NFL’s first case if his test comes back positive.
As most Americans are aware, testing is the biggest challenge we face right now. The federal government is working with states to get this situation remedied as quickly as possible, but according to Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health, so far our testing still lags significantly behind other developed countries.
The latest information from Johns Hopkins University shows that there are 7,324 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States, which have led to 115 deaths.
