Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral maintains he has no regrets about playing in the Sugar Bowl in January, despite suffering a right ankle injury that has kept him from participating in on-field testing at the NFL Scouting Combine this week.

Corral sustained a high ankle sprain in the 21-7 Sugar Bowl loss to Baylor on New Year’s Day and won’t throw at the combine. Instead, he said he expects to be ready to go on March 24 for pro day at Ole Miss.

He’s done plenty of talking to quarterback-exploring teams in Indianapolis this week. He said Wednesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders are among the NFL teams he met with Tuesday.

“They asked if I regretted it, and I said, ‘Absolutely not,'” Corral said about the Sugar Bowl. “I never thought about opting out. … It was never a thought in my mind. I was going to play regardless.”

He said his workouts are going well.

“About two and a half weeks ago I started throwing and running,” Corral said. “… I am throwing at 100% right now. I just started taking dropbacks about two and a half weeks ago. Before that I was just throwing from spots, not taking any dropbacks.”

Corral threw for more than 3,300 yards in each of his final two seasons at Ole Miss, with 29 touchdown passes in 2020 and 20 last season. He added a combined 1,100 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground over the two seasons.

ESPN’s draft experts project Corral as the No. 3 quarterback in the draft behind Pitt’s Kenny Pickett and Liberty’s Malik Willis.
