It’s been three years since the terrorist bombing at the scene of the Boston Marathon. An incident that saw spectator Adrianne Haslet lose her leg.

Now equipped with a prosthetic leg, Haslet took on the daunting challenge of participating in the 26-mile marathon.

She completed it in slightly less than 10 hours.

After news of Haslet’s amazing accomplishment broke, President Barack Obama posted this inspirational message to his Twitter account congratulating her:

What a truly amazing accomplishment.

Prior to participating in the marathon, Haslet had this to say (via TMZ Sports):

“I’m running for those who can’t run and those that are being attacked ruthlessly by these cowards and I’m really happy to be doing that.”

Not only did Haslet make an impression on President Obama, she earned a fan in New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady when the two met:

“Two years ago I was lucky enough to meet Adrianne Haslet, a survivor of the 2013 Marathon bombings,” Brady said. “She’s on the course now, running the race for the first time — with a prosthetic leg. Adrianne thank you for being my inspiration!! ‪#‎BostonStrong‬.”

How very cool of an experience for Haslet and for all the other folks who proudly participated in the race. Haslet’s accomplishment truly goes to prove that any challenge can be conquered once you prepare your mind and body for the task.

It’s also a reminder that the human spirit will not be destroyed due to the actions of terrorists. A reminder that many need in today’s age.
