The Atlantic Coast Conference rescheduled Saturday’s postponed game featuring No. 7 Notre Dame at Wake Forest to Dec. 12, the league announced on Wednesday.

The game was postponed Tuesday after seven more Fighting Irish players tested positive for COVID-19. Overall, 13 Irish players are in isolation.

Notre Dame has paused all football-related activities until further testing is complete.

The ACC also scheduled a make-up game between Virginia and Virginia Tech for Dec. 12, which likely means the ACC championship game will be played Dec. 19. The league opened play with an 11-game season (10 conference plus one non-conference) for each team spread over 13 weeks to allow for flexibility in the schedule, including the conference title game.

Traditionally an independent, Notre Dame is playing with the ACC this season because of the pandemic.

There was consideration to the teams making up the game on Oct. 3, as both had the date open. Instead, Wake Forest will move its Oct. 9 game against Campbell to Oct. 2 to avoid having consecutive weeks off.
