As the Pittsburgh Pirates slip further down the standings, things might be getting even worse for the club for the foreseeable future.

Starting pitcher Jameson Taillon landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a flexor strain in his right elbow

The prognosis: The lack of certainty about the severity of the injury leaves Taillon without a firm timetable for a return to the mound.

The Impact: For a team that has won just two of its last 10 games, this is another tough blow and further depletes the rotation.

Pittsburgh has yet to name who will take Taillon’s spot in its rotation. The Pirates are already without Chris Archer and further blows to the club’s pitching depth could have significant impacts now and across the remainder of the season.
