Pirates place first baseman Ji Man Choi (Achilles) on injured list

The Pittsburgh Pirates put first baseman Ji Man Choi on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left Achilles strain.

Choi, 31, is batting .125 with two homers and two RBIs through nine games in his first season with Pittsburgh.

He is a career .237 hitter with 63 home runs and 227 RBIs in 495 games with five teams since his 2016 debut.

The Pirates recalled infielder Tucupita Marcano from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

Marcano, 23, is batting .422 with seven doubles and 10 RBIs in 11 games with Indianapolis this season.
