Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jake Marisnick was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a thumb injury.

Pittsburgh recalled right-handed pitcher Max Kranick from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill Marisnick’s spot on the active roster.

Marisnick was batting .163 through 22 games in 2022 with just one RBI, two doubles and five runs scored. He has manned left, center and right field for at least four games apiece without committing an error.

Marisnick, 31, is in his first season with the Pirates after spending the first nine years of his MLB career with the Miami Marlins (2013-14), Houston Astros (2014-19), New York Mets (2020), Chicago Cubs (2021) and San Diego Padres (2021).

Kranick is back with the big-league club after serving as Pittsburgh’s 27th man for Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds. He made his season debut in the second game, pitching two scoreless innings with a hit, two walks and three strikeouts.

Kranick went 2-3 with a 6.28 ERA over nine starts as a rookie for Pittsburgh in 2021.
