Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos set for MRI on oblique

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is scheduled to undergo an MRI to address a tight right oblique, multiple outlets reported Saturday.

He experienced discomfort while striking out in the fifth inning of Friday’s 13-1 loss at San Francisco and was removed from the game in the sixth inning.

Castellanos, 30, is batting. 265 with a .702 OPS, 13 home runs and 61 RBIs over 128 games in his first season with the Phillies.

Over 10 major league seasons with the Detroit Tigers (2013-19), Chicago Cubs (2019), Cincinnati Reds (2020-21) and Phillies, Castellanos is a career .277 hitter with an .802 OPS, 181 home runs and 655 RBIs. He was named to his first All-Star team last season.
