The Philadelphia Phillies are a complete and utter mess right now. That reared its ugly head late in Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Holding a mere 6-5 lead and having already given up three runs in the inning, Philadelphia pitcher Hector Neris yielded a three-run home run to Dodgers youngster Matt Beaty.
The very next pitch saw David Freese hit in the back with a 95 mile-per-hour fastball. It led to both Neris and Phillies manager Gabe Kapler being ejected from the game.
We’re not exactly sure what Philadelphia’s issue with Beaty was. He did not stand at home plate watching the homer. He did not make any real motions crossing the plate.
Sure the Dodgers’ dugout was excited. But that’s to be expected after dropping six runs before a single out was recorded in the ninth inning.
Maybe improve your play rather than take exception of another team’s brilliance. Just some food for thought there.
