The Philadelphia Eagles draft history is one of the biggest reasons why the team is reigning Super Bowl champions. As general manager Howie Roseman heads into an offseason with aspirations of building a back-to-back champ, there are already swirling NFL rumors about what Philadelphia may do in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Philadelphia’s first priority is trying to retain some of its key players. Among the Eagles free agents in 2025, guard Mekhi Becton, linebacker Zack Baun and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers are among the priorities to re-sign. However, edge rusher Josh Sweat and defensive tackle Milton Williams could leave thanks to robust markets.

It leaves Roseman in a spot where he won’t have much cap space left to address other needs and there’s an understanding that this roster will lose some of its depth next season. That’s even likelier to happen if NFL rumors of Philadelphia eyeing a big move come to fruition. As for the 2025 NFL Draft, things could go in an unexpected direction.

According to Sportskeeda‘s Tony Pauline, people around the NFL are eying the Eagles as a team that could use their first-round pick on North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel.

Zabel is intriguing for several reasons. He played four different positions during his collegiate career at North Dakota State, with opinions on his future position varied. Some have evaluated him as a standout center prospect, while others see him as a starting guard and a few believe he can play tackle.

With the free-agent market for Becton expected to heat up now that the Kansas City Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Trey Smith, his market could get pushed out of the Eagles’ price range. If that happens, Zabel could step in as the Eagles’ right guard next season.

Looking more long-term, Pauline writes that Philadelphia could eventually kick Zabel out to right tackle when All-Pro Lane Johnson retires. Given the team’s track record with developing offensive linemen under Jeff Stoutland, Philadelphia might be the perfect landing spot for Zabel.
