Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was expecting Earl Thomas to show up for mandatory minicamp, so it’s hardly surprising he’s “disappointed” he isn’t there.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network shared comments made by Carroll on Tuesday ahead of Seattle’s first minicamp practice.
“I’m just disappointed that he’s not here and all that,” Carroll said. “But we’ll let it play itself out.”
When asked if he expects Thomas to be a Seahawk in 2018, Carroll said, “I’m hoping son. He’s under contract.”
Those are not the comments of a confident man.
Thomas wants a new long-term deal. He made it clear in a recent social media post that he’s not going to show up for any team activities until he gets what he wants.

Whether he actually follows through with that threat remains to be seen.
However, it must be noted that Thomas hasn’t been shy about wanting to sign with the Dallas Cowboys. Perhaps he’s hoping to force the team’s hand here and end up a winner, regardless of the outcome this summer.
