The Seattle Seahawks might have won Thursday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, but it came at a major cost. All Pro cornerback Richard Sherman exited the game in the third quarter with what was initially described as a heal injury. Though, Sherman himself pointed to the Achilles when talking to teammates on the sideline.
That has now been confirmed.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed after the game that Sherman did indeed suffer a ruptured Achilles and will be out for the remainder of the season.
As he alluded to on the sidelines, #Seahawks CB Richard Sherman does have a ruptured Achilles, coach Pete Carroll said. “The doctors were clear about it.” Ugh.

This is an absolutely huge blow for a Seahawks squad that relies so much on their secondary. It also comes after fellow All Pro defensive back Earl Thomas missed his second consecutive game with a hamstring injury.
How the Seahawks respond to this devastating injury will tell us a lot about the team. But for now, members of the squad are not happy about this whole Thursday Night Football thing.

With Sherman’s injury, that’s a conversation we will likely see come to the forefront as the season progresses.
