What is the payout for The Players Championship during the 2024 PGA Tour season? What will the top-10 players championship payout be? What will the winner at the famed TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, earn?

Scottie Scheffler earned $4.5 million by taking home the trophy last season. He’s in the field again and primed for a repeat performance just southeast of Jacksonville. The previous year saw Cameron Smith earn a “mere” $3.6 million by coming away with the victory.

As payouts and purses for the PGA Tour continue to increase, we thought it would be fun to look at The Players Championship and what this means in 2024.

The first Players Championship took place back in 1974 with Jack Nicklaus earning $50,000 for the win. The total payout was a mere $250,000. Adjusted for inflation, Nicklaus’ winnings would be $312,796 in 2024. The total purse would be $1.56 million.

If we fast forward to 1993, Nick Price earned $450,000 by winning at TPC Sawgrass ($2.82 million in 2024 dollars). The total purse was $2.5 million ($15.64 million). Let’s take a look at the past 10 years and what the payout for The Players Championship was each season.

The increase over the past decades has been pretty eye-opening. For comparison’s sake, the Masters Tournament saw Bubba Watson collect $1.62 million in 2014 compared to the $3.24 million Jon Rahm earned last season. The Players championship payout is among the highest growing in all of the PGA.
