The New England Patriots might not have seen this coming when they picked Michael Floyd up off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals earlier this month.

Floyd was waived by the Cardinals after a DUI arrest in Arizona back on December 12th. That’s bad in and of itself. It’s also a continuation of alcohol related issues Floyd went through while at Notre Dame.

Now comes this report from a local NBC affiliate in Arizona suggesting that Floyd had a blood alcohol level of 0.217 at the time of he was pulled over. That’s nearly three times the legal limit.

It also means mandatory jail time for Floyd under Arizona law.

It remains to be seen if this will have any impact on the Patrots’ plans for Floyd moving forward this season. Though, he is set to become a free agent following the year. That will surely play a role in how he’s valued on the open market.
