Marcus Cannon, a sixth-year pro out of TCU, is famous for overcoming non-Hodgkins Lymphoma to become a top-tier right tackle in the NFL.
With the Patriots willing to jettison players who ask for too much money, locking up a key offensive cog who protects franchise quarterback Tom Brady is huge for the Pats.
While not a glamorous position, right tackles often face elite pass rushers and are key in keeping quarterbacks upright. Cannon is also terrific in the run game and is an invaluable player for the organization.
This is a feel-good story that panned out in a major way for the Patriots. Cannon is being rewarded for his hard work and development into an elite player at his position.
