Patriots file tampering charges against Texans for attempting to hire Nick Caserio

The NFL will now prepare to investigate the Houston Texans following tampering charges filed by the New England Patriots over the team’s pursuit of Nick Caserio, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

The Patriots filed tampering charges Wednesday against the Houston Texans for the attempted general manager hire of Nick Caserio, league sources told ESPN.

The NFL now is expected to gather relevant informant to open its investigation against Houston, per sources.

The Texans were attempting to hire Caserio as their general manager. At this time, he holds the position of director of player personnel for New England.

Earlier on Wednesday, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport explained why the Patriots don’t want to let him go.

Now the organization is scrambling to fill the void at a crucial time. Star pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney is currently holding out after being presented with the franchise tag (just under $16 million for 2019), and the deadline to do a long-term extension is July 15.
