Patriots are most-hated NFL team, per Twitter data

NFL free agency, Bill Belichick and the Patriots are in a prime position heading into free agency with Jimmy Garoppolo in their back pocket.

The New England Patriots are one win away from hitting double digits for the 16th consecutive season and have the only real dynasty going in the NFL right now.

Since Tom Brady and Bill Belichick started working together, the Patriots have won five Super Bowls in eight tries — one of the most prolific stretches of dominance in American sports history.

Along the way, the Patriots have been embroiled in plenty of controversy, with Spy-Gate and Deflate-Gate being the two everyone remembers.

With that in mind, it’s hardly surprising that the Patriots are America’s most-hated NFL team, according to Twitter data.

The folks who work at the sports analytics site zcodesystem.com were the ones who put this together, using trends software with direct access to geotagged twitter data.

There are some other interesting tidbits from this study.

The Kansas City Chiefs apparently aren’t getting much hate at all, despite the Kareem Hunt situation and the fact they’re running roughshod over the league every Sunday.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Rams are getting some negative attention, and pretty much everyone in the Northeast hates the New York Jets, except Jets fans.
