Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has played only three seasons in the NFL. Despite this, he’s already accomplished things most quarterbacks haven’t.

With Mahomes and his Chiefs set to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV Sunday, the talented young quarterback indicated on Wednesday that he would like to retire as a member of the Chiefs.
“The people are what really drew me to Kansas City,” Mahomes said, via a local ABC affiliate in Kansas City. “I hope I get to play there the rest of my career now. Just the people and how they accept you, care about you more as a person than as a player and how much passion they have for the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s special. And it’s somewhere where I want to be the rest of my career.”
Mahomes, 24, has been a full-time starter in the NFL for just two seasons. He’s already looking forward in his career, and can’t envision himself playing for another team.
Saying this is one thing. Seeing it come to fruition is a completely different thing.
Mahomes will be eligible for an extension for the first time this coming offseason. The expectation is that he’ll receive a record-breaking contract in excess of $200 million.
Negotiations won’t be easy. But if Kansas City were to come out on top in the big game, a deal becomes much more likely. That’s for sure.
