Patrick Mahomes’ father arrested, charged with DWI in Texas

Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested in Tyler, Texas, by police Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated, per online jail records.

According to those records, Mahomes Sr. was released on $10,000 bond. The Kansas City Star referenced court records showing Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to a 2018 DWI charge and served 40 days in jail.

Per state law, Mahomes Sr. could receive a sentence of up to 10 years in prison for the third-degree felony.

Mahomes Sr. pitched for 11 seasons in the major leagues.

The Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas next Sunday.
