Panthers TE Greg Olsen activated, will play Sunday against Colts

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen

The Carolina Panthers are getting one of their stars, tight end Greg Olsen, back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

As expected, the tight end has been activated for the first time since he broke his foot early this season.

Olsen is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and has hauled in over 1,000 yards worth of receptions in each of his past three seasons. He also caught 16 touchdowns during that stretch, which was the best of his career.

Having played in less than two games this year, Olsen’s contributions have been minimal: three catches for 28 yards.

He’s been Cam Newton’s security blanket and go-to receiver on third downs throughout the quarterback’s career and should boost Carolina’s offense in a big way down the home stretch, especially in light of Kelvin Benjamin being traded to Buffalo late last month.
