Panthers’ LB Shaq Thompson involved in head-on collision, alcohol involved

Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson was reportedly involved in a head-collision with former Duke quarterback Anthony Boone in North Carolina on Sunday.

According to Bill Voth of The Black and Blue Review, alcohol was involved but the police said it was not a factor in the accident. Per the report, Thompson was charged “with driving left of center” when he collided with Boone.

The accident took place Charlotte, North Carolina at 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Boone was reportedly taken to the hospital, though his injuries were not life- threatening. As for Thompson, he sustained no injuries.

Per the report, Panthers spokesman Ryan Anderson shared this statement.

“Shaq informed us he was involved in a traffic accident and we are in the process of gathering more information.”

It will be interesting to hear more information coming from North Carolina as the dust settles here.

Should Thompson’s involvement in the accident be alcohol related, even if it didn’t play a role in the crash, we can be sure that both the NFL and local authorities will get involved here.
