Panthers reportedly give TE Greg Olsen a raise

The Carolina Panthers continue to take care of their own this summer. After signing veteran linebacker Thomas Davis to an extension earlier in August, the Panthers spent Thursday handing out a raise to Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team has restructured Olsen’s contract to give him an ability to earn an extra $2 million based on incentives this season.

Olsen, 32, had two more years left on his deal at a base salary of $6.5 million per season. Now, with the restructure, the three-time Pro Bowl can earn nearly $9 million in 2017.

It’s money Olsen has definitely earned. Coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him put up 80 receptions for 1,073 yards, Olsen has proven himself to be among the top pass-catching tight ends in the NFL.
