Panthers QB Cam Newton dealing with shoulder injury

The Carolina Panthers got a bit of unwelcome injury news on Wednesday. Quarterback Cam Newton was limited in practice with a shoulder injury.

For now, there’s no reason to see this as anything but precautionary. Newton certainly takes more hits than the average quarterback. As such, it’s hardly surprising that he’s dealing with shoulder soreness at this point of the year. Carolina has every reason to be cautious with him through the week.

On Sunday, Newton led his Carolina Panthers to a 21-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, despite trailing 17-0 after three quarters.

For the season, Newton has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 1,427 yards with 11 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 94.7 passer rating. He’s added 257 yards on the ground with three touchdowns.
