The Carolina Panthers got a bit of unwelcome injury news on Wednesday. Quarterback Cam Newton was limited in practice with a shoulder injury.
Cam Newton is on the Panthers injury report as limited with a shoulder issue. Coach Ron Rivera said this is no different than last year when Newton got time off during the week coming off shoulder surgery. https://t.co/oQi64Y3MqE pic.twitter.com/Ro46CL1r3a

For now, there’s no reason to see this as anything but precautionary. Newton certainly takes more hits than the average quarterback. As such, it’s hardly surprising that he’s dealing with shoulder soreness at this point of the year. Carolina has every reason to be cautious with him through the week.
On Sunday, Newton led his Carolina Panthers to a 21-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, despite trailing 17-0 after three quarters.
For the season, Newton has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 1,427 yards with 11 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 94.7 passer rating. He’s added 257 yards on the ground with three touchdowns.
