The Carolina Panthers are fresh off an ugly loss to the Atlanta Falcons. It’s a game that saw second-year quarterback Kyle Allen throw four interceptions in a 29-3 defeat.
With Cam Newton on injured reserve, there’s potentially a need for another quarterback here moving forward. Asked about one specific free agent, Panthers Pro Bowl safety Eric Reid campaigned for the team to sign Colin Kaepernick.
“I think we could use Colin’s help,” Reid said. “I think every team in the league could use Colin’s help. I would definitely be excited if he were here
This really shouldn’t be considered too much of a surprise. Reid was among the first players to join Kaepernick in the national anthem protests back in 2016.
He’s been a boisterous proponent of what Kaepernick does off the field and actually joined his former teammate in filing a collusion lawsuit against the NFL.
This comes one day after Kaepernick held a workout in front of about a quarter of the NFL teams in Atlanta. The workout was originally slated to be league-mandated before a rift grew between Kaepernick and the league.
We did, however, focus on Carolina as a potential landing spot for the former Super Bowl quarter. New owner David Tepper is seen as more progressive than most at his position in the NFL and is notably anti President Trump, something him and Kaepernick obviously have in common.
Whether this leads to anything remains to be seen. It must be noted that Reid was on hand for the workout on Saturday and the Panthers have requested tape of said workout.
