paiN Gaming open strong in BLAST.tv Paris Major American RMR

paiN Gaming registered the most one-sided win as the BLAST.tv Paris Major American Regional Major Ranking event got underway Thursday in Monterrey, Mexico.

The tournament features 16 teams battling for berths in the $1.25 million BLAST.tv Paris Major, scheduled for May 8-21.

The champion at Monterrey will enter the Paris Major in the Legends round, while the Monterrey runner-up will enter at the Challenger round. The third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishers in Monterrey will open play in the Paris Major’s Contender round.

The qualifier is being played using the Swiss system, with elimination and advancement matches best-of-three and other matches best-of-1. The first-place decider also will be best-of-three. The tournament runs through Sunday.

On Thursday, paiN Gaming crushed Paqueta Gaming 16-2 on Nuke in a battle of all-Brazilian squads. Felipe “skullz” Medeiros paced paiN with 23 kills and a plus-18 kill-death differential, and teammate Gabriel “NEKIZ” Schenato added 22 kills. Gabriel “nython” Lino logged a team-high 11 kills for Paqueta.

The tightest match of the day saw Flamengo Esports eke out a 22-20 victory over MIBR on Nuke. In another all-Brazilian showdown, Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira wound up with 34 kills and a plus-8 K-D differential for Flamengo. Henrique “HEN1” Teles logged 31 kills and a plus-14 K-D differential for MIBR.

In other opening-day action, FURIA Esports blitzed Los + oNe 16-6 on Ancient, Team Liquid clobbered 00 Nation 16-4 on Mirage, BESTIA edged Nouns Esports 16-13 on Overpass, Complexity Gaming handled Team Solid 16-10 on Inferno, Evil Geniuses dumped Imperial Esports 16-12 on Inferno, and Fluxo bested yur 16-13 on Nuke.
