Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss Wednesday night’s game against the host Boston Celtics due to a right ankle sprain.

Haliburton, 23, missed practice on Tuesday and was originally listed as questionable before Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said an hour before tipoff that the 2023 All-Star would be inactive.

In three games (all starts) this season, Haliburton is averaging 20.0 points, an NBA-leading 12.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game. He is shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from 3-point range.

Haliburton is in his fourth NBA season and his third with the Pacers after being traded from the Sacramento Kings in February 2022.

Backcourt mate Bennedict Mathurin was also listed as questionable due to a right elbow contusion, but Carlisle said he will play against Boston.

Indiana is 2-1 this season, while the Celtics are a perfect 3-0.
